Rob Gronkowski has finally called time on his highly esteemed 11-year long NFL career, for the second time. The four time Super Bowl winner announced his retirement from the game on his official Instagram account.

Rob Gronkowski had initially retired from the NFL in 2019, after playing out nine seasons citing mental.anf physical health issues due to the numerous injuries that he had suffered that season. However, he made a U-turn on his decision after his close mate, Tom Brady persuaded him to join him at Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In 2011, Rob Gronkowski made his first of five Pro Bowl selections, leading the NFL in touchdown catches with 17. He was also named first-team All-Pro that season after catching 90 passes for 1,327 yards.

The 33-year-old posted a long note for his fans on Instagram as he thanked the Buccaneers for giving him the opportunity to be a part of a championship winning side for another year. He appreciated each and every teammate he has ever played with during his career, alongside his coaches as he steps aside to start a new chapter in his life.

“I want to thank the whole entire first class Buccaneers organization for an amazing ride, trusting me to come back to play and help build a championship team,” wrote the legendary tight end. “I will now be going back into my retirement home, walking away from football again with my head held high knowing I gave it everything I had, good or bad, every time I stepped out on the field.”

“The friendships and relationships I have made will last forever, and I appreciate every single one of my teammates and coaches for giving everything they had as well. From retirement, back to football and winning another championship and now back to chilling out, thank you to all.”

However, it remains to be seen whether the tight end sticks with his decision to retire this time around. Fans have become a bit sceptical of the fact, and have started to ponder if he would eventually make a comeback for the 2022 season in a couple of months time.
