The defending NFC North Champions Minnesota Vikings have been to an awful start in their 2023 campaign despite heroic efforts from quarterback Kirk Cousins and star wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Amidst their struggles, many experts are suggesting the Vikings trade away Cousins to the New York Jets while the value is high since they wouldn’t be able to win anything in the ongoing season. And now, the legendary NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski claims the Vikings should 100% trade Cousins to the Jets if they lose to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

“If [for] some reason the Vikings lose [in week 4], Kirk Cousins should be shipped out 100 percent, and he should be shipped out to the New York Jets,” Rob Gronkowski said during his recent appearance at Kay Adams‘ “Up & Adams Show” on FanDuel.

The former New England Patriots tight end acknowledged that Aaron Rodgers might return next year, but he believes the Jets should be looking to win the Super Bowl this year with the roster they have and Kirk Cousins would be able to win them some games.

“Yes, you’re going to get Aaron Rodgers back next year with the Jets, but they need to fix that quarterback position this year if they want to win some games — and it makes sense having his [Cousins] contract expire after this year,” said Rob Gronkowski.

It makes sense for the Jets since they obviously would be a better team with Cousins as their starting quarterback instead of their current signal-caller Zach Wilson. But it doesn’t make sense for the Vikings to give up on their season as early as week 4.

But the experts believe Cousins’ trade value is at its peak now and the Jets would give up a lot to acquire the Pro Bowl quarterback. The Vikings could get a lot in return for Kirk if they trade him now and could use those resources in their rebuild.

The Minnesota Vikings are off to an awful start in their 2023 campaign, but it is certainly not because of their starting quarterback Kirk Cousins. The 35-year-old has had remarkable performances in all 3 games he played so far.

Cousins has registered 1,075 passing yards and 9 passing touchdowns in 3 games while completing a whopping 69.6 percent of his pass attempts. Furthermore, he leads the league in both of those categories through the first three weeks of the ongoing NFL season.

Along with Cousins, the Vikings’ star receiver Justin Jefferson is also having a great start to his individual campaign. Jefferson is currently leading the league in receiving yards with 458 yards in 3 games.

However, both star players would be more focused on securing the first victory for their team when the Minnesota-based football team square off against the Panthers in their week 4 matchup this Sunday.
