Rob Gronkowski was destined to be a tight end. His build and skillset were perfect for his position and enabled him to become the greatest tight end of all time. His dynamic relationship with Tom Brady resulted in the duo becoming one of the most iconic pairings in NFL history.

But what if he had gone in an entirely different direction? On the latest episode of Tom Brady’s Let’s Go! podcast, the tight end revealed that he flirted with the possibility of venturing into the WWE. The basis for this belief was one play wherein Gronk caught a five-yard pass despite a linebacker attempting to tackle him.

Gronk dragged the linebacker James Laurinaitis into the end zone and the play was a pure show of his raw strength. This play proved to Tom Brady that his tight end was nothing short of a “beast.” The linebacker’s dad Joe is a wrestler in the WWE who goes by the moniker ‘Road Warrior Animal’.

Rob Gronkowski would have been a beast in the WWE

I knew he was on me. So I knew if I could drag this guy I can be a WWE champion as well.

It would not be until 2020 that Rob Gronkowski would get an opportunity to turn this dream into reality. He won the WWE 24/7 title at WrestleMania.

Gronkowski is a unique personality. He changed how the tight end position was perceived in the NFL, the four-time Super Bowl winner came up clutch and had a significant role to play in leading the New England Patriots to victories.

If not for him, Tom Brady would be short of a Super Bowl. He was the Robin to his Batman. The five-time Pro Bowler’s career was cut short due to multiple injuries and consistency began to become an issue for him. However, Gronk was a force to be reckoned with, and if he had decided to venture into the WWE in his rookie year, he would have succeeded at that as well.
