“Kicked himself out of the team”: The Carolina Panthers have traded WR Robbie Anderson to the Arizona Cardinals

Robbie Anderson got into a heated exchange with WR coach Joe Dailey

The Carolina Panthers are trading wideout Robbie Anderson to the Arizona Cardinals just a day after he got into an altercation with the team’s wide receiver coach Joe Dailey, Ian Rappoport reports. The two got into a heated exchange on the sidelines, as Anderson was not happy with the way he was being used.

Following his outburst, interim Head Coach for the Panthers, Steve Wilks, kicked him out of the game and sent him to the locker room.

It has just been a day since this incident took place and it is likely that Robbie Anderson asked out. He has been frustrated with not getting enough targets and the Panthers have had a lot of issues at the quarterback position as well. This marks an end to Anderson’s time as a Panther. He has played 39 games with the team.

Robbie Anderson provides a much-needed boost to the Arizona Cardinals receiver core:

Robbie Anderson had signed a two-year contract with the Carolina Panthers, worth $20 million in 2020. He was on a contract till 2023 and he has had a total of 1,821 yards, 161 receptions, and 9 TDs with the Panthers. Following the trade, the Cardinals will take over the responsibility of paying Anderson the remainder of his salary, which is estimated to be around $690,000.

Robbie Anderson was signed by Matt Rhule, who was recently fired as the Head Coach of the Panthers due to his 1-4 start to this season. Anderson is an undrafted receiver who got his first shot with the New York Jets. He will now be targeted more than he will be filling the place of Hollywood Brown, who was recently injured in the Cardinals’ loss to the Seahawks.

There is a likelihood that Brown will be out for the remainder of the season. This week, DeAndre Hopkins will also be returning to the field to join his team as his six-game suspension for PED usage comes to an end.

The Arizona Cardinals will play the New Orleans Saints this Thursday and Robbie Anderson is expected to start for the team. He has a lot of catching up to do in a brief period. On the positive side of things, he will finally be getting more targets and will have a competent quarterback throwing him the ball in his new team.
