“His hypocrisy is overwhelming”: Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft called a hypocrite on social media over antisemitic advertisement

Robert Kraft

Robert Kraft is arguably one of the most popular owners in the NFL. The billionaire owner of the New England Patriots recently sponsored an advertisement in partnership with the Foundation for Combatting antisemitism. The ad was aired during the Sunday Night Football matchup between the Patriots and New York Jets.

The goal of this advertisement was to send a strong message against antisemitism and the prevalent discrimination against people who practice and profess Judaism.

The recent comments of prominent rapper ‘Ye‘, formerly known as Kanye West, stirred up quite a controversy as the rapper and businessman tweeted the statement “Going death con 3 on Jewish people.”

Death con or Defcon is a military term that is used to address any form of threats or risks. It is a scale from 1 to 5 in which Defcon 1 is the lowest threat and Defcon 5 means a great threat. Ye called the Jewish people a level 3 threat and, as a result, attracted the ire of the public.

Robert Kraft’s ad against antisemitism comes in light of controversial comments by prominent celebrities:

Robert Kraft sponsored the advertisement that read, “Antisemitism is Hate. Hate against Jews. For being Jewish. Recently many of you have spoken up. We hear you today. We must hear you tomorrow. There are less than 8 million Jewish people in this country. Fewer than are watching this game. .They need you add your voice.”

The ad ends with the #StandUpToJewishHate. The advertisement from the wealthy businessman attracted mixed reactions from fans on Twitter:

The owner appears to have distanced himself from Donald Trump recently following the attempted coup on the White House.

He’s lost millions for a comment that made no sense and was uncalled for. Genius is probably not the word.

That may be true, but it is also necessary to enlighten individuals on the ground reality.

Race has inevitably become a part of everything in 2022, it is unfortunate to see.

Informative, it had no graphics but only facts. For an ad that is against antisemitism, that is the way it should be produced.

No room for hate and antisemitism. We are better than that.

No need to show the enlightened anything.

It’s disappointing to see people talk more on social media and not implement what they preach.

Ye’s comments have helped politicians divert some attention from themselves.

It’s not about questioning them, Ye attempted to deflect and defend his comments by stating “black people are jewish.”

Nobody banned him, he got himself banned. Rather than looking at this as a publicity stunt, it would help to acknowledge the facts as they are.

Robert Kraft may not have the best track record, however, this move by the businessman is worthy of appreciation. We are moving forward in terms of innovation and technological prowess while our mindset seems to be heading backward, as we are witnessing a rise in racism and discrimination.
