The New York Jets acquired legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the offseason this year. The expectation in New York was for Rodgers to lead them to the playoffs. However, that all came crashing down when the veteran QB suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. Since then, the Jets’ backup QB Zach Wilson has replaced him at quarterback.

Rodgers has been working tirelessly to return to action as soon as possible. He is reportedly ahead of schedule on his road to recovery and was seen walking without crutches in the Jets’ recent games. His plan is to return by the end of the season as he wants to play in the playoffs if the Jets get there. Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh recently confirmed that Rodgers will play in place of Wilson as soon as he is cleared to play.

Saleh said in a recent press conference:

Aaron's a grown man. No one is going to know Aaron's body like Aaron knows his body. If he feels after the doctors clear him, if Aaron says he wants to play, he's going to play.

The Jets slipped to 4-5 this season after a loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday. They have now lost their last two matches and are third in their division behind the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills.

The Jets will play their next game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Wilson had a poor outing against the Raiders as he threw for 263 yards and one interception. So far this season, the third-year signal-caller has thrown for 1,863 yards and five touchdowns. He also has six interceptions this season.

Aaron Rodgers defends OC Nathaniel Hackett after recent struggles

The New York Jets have struggled on offense this season. Their star offseason acquisition Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury in week 1. Since then the offense has struggled to put up points under backup QB Zach Wilson. Rodgers, however, has defended his OC Nathaniel Hackett amidst all the criticism surrounding the offense.

Rodgers said:

Yeah, yeah, I see it. I won MVP twice in the same offense, so I’m a believer. I’m a believer in the offense. There are a lot of positions, you have to play better. But, yeah, it’s easy right now to throw it at the usual suspects, Zach [Wilson] and Nathaniel, but there’s a lot of positions that need to play better.

The Jets’ offense struggled against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday. They only scored 12 points and failed to score a touchdown throughout the game. They will hope to improve in their next game against the Buffalo Bills next Sunday.
