The New York Jets now finally have some stability in the quarterback position after they roped in the former Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. However, Rodgers also brings some controversy with him to the New York camp. ESPN reported Rodgers allegedly gave the Jets front office a wishlist of players he would like the Jets to target in the off-season, but now Robert Saleh has refuted the claim.
During the press conference on Friday, the Jets head coach Robert Saleh was asked about the alleged wishlist. Saleh took that opportunity to clear the speculations about the situation.
“So, I can try to say this as respectfully as I can — I’m not attacking anyone. It’s just that I do think it’s a silly narrative, with regards to a ‘wish list,” Saleh said in his press conference.
Saleh went on to claim that it’s common practice for teams to surround the new faces with some old faces they’re familiar with. The Jets’ head coach even cited Tom Brady getting Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Brown while his move to Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in 2020 to support his claim.
“Shoot, Tom Brady goes to Tampa, and he gets Gronkowski and Antonio Brown. So, it is very common for new faces to want old faces — to be able to come in and accelerate the installation of a program,” said Saleh.
The New York-based football team has so far added Rodgers’ former Packers teammates, receivers Allen Lazard, and Randall Cobb, and offensive tackle Billy Turner in the off-season.

Robert Saleh assures to put the best 53-man roster on the field
Despite adding some of former Aaron Rodgers teammates to the roster, the NY Jets third-year head coach Robert Saleh vows to only add the best 53-man to his roster. “At the end of the day, the best 53 will be on the football team,” Saleh said. “And then the best 11 will be on the football field when it’s time to snap the ball,” said Saleh on Friday.
The Jets now have a real shot at winning the Super Bowl ring in the near future. As long as Aaron Rodgers stays in New York to lead the young core of the Jets, Saleh has a shot at winning the second-ever championship in the franchise’s history.
But for now, Rodgers and Saleh would be focused on leading the Jets to their first playoff appearance since 2010. The Jets have the longest playoff drought for any franchise in the top 4 major league sports in the United States. Rodgers would like to end that streak.
