“Run Devon Run” Eagles Olympian WR Devon Allen scores his first TD with ‘blazing’ speed

It’s not common that a two-time Olympian plays in the NFL so when the Eagles had the opportunity to sign Devon Allen they jumped on it and they haven’t regretted it.

The Olympic sprinter scored a 55-yard touchdown that helped the Eagles confirm their win against the Browns with a score of 21-20. The Eagles had a busy preseason where they added numerous players to their roster, they added AJ Brown as a wide receiver and also the former Oregon State University WR Devon Allen.

Allen was disqualified in the 2022 World Athletic Championship for a false start but this time no flag led to his 55-yard TD.

Devon Allen is also a three-time US national champion in the 110-meter hurdle race. Allen managed to grab a three-year undrafted rookie deal from the Eagles for his performance in training in workout sessions with the Eagles.

“Olympic speed”: Fans praise Devon Allen on Twitter

Devon Allen is quickly becoming a fan favourite with his blazing fast speed and rapid manoeuvres. The Eagles receiver reached a maximum speed of 20.93 mph while making his 55-yard touchdown.

This speed makes Devon Allen one of the fastest receivers in the NFL with the likes of DeSean Jackson, Terry McLaurin and Quez Watkins. Allen made it looks very easy running past the defenders but in reality, it’s very difficult.

Devon Allen did his trademark hurdle celebration after scoring the touchdown which he said was developed while speaking to Tyree Jackson before the game.

“It was funny I was just like, ‘Oh man, Tyree’ — one of our tight ends, I was like, ‘Man, I don’t know, what should I do if I score?’ He was like, ‘You should do a hurdle, I was like, ‘Got you,'” Allen said.
