“We won a lot of games…,” Russell Wilson hits back at Seahawks HC Pete Carroll for ill-natured wristband comments

Pete Carroll confident in Geno Smith
The marriage between Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks seemed one made in heaven until it suffered an unfortunate end last season. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback was traded on to the Denver Broncos ahead of this season with numerous differences between the quarterback and the franchise.
After the move, head coach Pete Carroll acknowledged that the trade was initiated by Russell Wilson himself and that he didn’t leave on the best of terms. The after-effects of the breakup have continued as Pete Carroll hinted towards a jibe at his former quarterback as he commented on Geno Smith during a recent podcast.
Carroll suggested that Geno Smith has had a better time with the Seahawks this season without the wristband. Adding to praise for Geno Smith, he also claimed that there was resistance in the past, referring to Wilson’s time at the franchise.
Russell Wilson owned up to wearing a wristband despite criticism from Pete Carroll

“If you notice, Geno’s going off the wristband, and that’s a big help,” Carroll said. “It’s smoothed things out, sped things up, cleaned things up. And that’s part of it, too. We never did that before. There was resistance to that, so we didn’t do that before.”
Russell Wilson was asked to comment on his former head coach’s remarks during his latest press conference appearance ahead of the Broncos’ upcoming NFL game against the Titans. “I don’t know exactly what he said, but [we] won a lot of games there without one on my wrist,” Wilson said.
Russell Wilson did not think that him wearing a wristband affected the Seahawks’ chances of winning matches, despite what was suggested by Carroll.
”I didn’t know winning or losing mattered if you wore a wristband or not. I think I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure that we’re rolling, and moving, and everything else. The few times I’ve definitely worn a wristband depending on the game plan, what we’ve got called and all that stuff.”
