Russell Wilson has had a roller-coaster of a season this year as he was traded from the Seahawks to the Broncos in one of the most expensive NFL trades of all time.

However, it didn’t work out in his favor as the Broncos QB failed massively, and instead of improving the offense; he managed to do the opposite. The Broncos are currently last in their division as they have had a disappointing season due to various reasons, including HC Nathaniel Hackett.

Wilson suffered a concussion in the loss to the Chiefs last week and was ruled out of the game. Although the Super Bowl winner cleared concussion protocol, Hackett took the ultimate decision to let him rest for the Cardinals’ game.

“As an organization, we decided to give [Wilson] another week to get ready, so he’s ready to go for the Los Angeles Rams,” Hackett said after practice on Friday. “We informed him of the decision. He’s not happy with it. He wants to be out there and play.”

Wilson was clearly unhappy with this decision and the picture of him at the casino was witness to that. The Broncos QB was spotted at a casino and looked like he was in deep pain and agony.

Wilson wanted to be a part of the game however, he was asked to sit this one out and instead prepare for the Rams game in the coming week.

Russell Wilson was in good shape to start the game against the Cardinals, and even attended some practice sessions throughout the week. “[Wilson] looked great out there. He’s been great. He’s been in meetings. … He’s passed all the concussion protocol,” Hackett said. “As an organization, we talked, we looked at it. … We just want to do what’s right for him.”

Wilson will be replaced by backup QB Brett Rypien. Rypien has been part of the Broncos for four years now, although has had only 3 career starts before this. The Broncos’ backup QB has trained and practiced extensively to feature in the Cardinals’ game.

“I’m just excited for the opportunity. … My only focus is trying to get win a Sunday,” Rypien said. “Obviously, we want to take care of [Wilson]. That’s your franchise quarterback. That’s a guy everybody cares about in this building.

It looks like Rypien will take charge of the Broncos’ offense for the next game. Wilson will have to wait his turn and feature in the upcoming game against the Rams next week.
