WATCH: Ryan Clark drops his head in ‘disgust’ after Robert Griffin III claims Lamar Jackson is fighting for his ‘f**king life’
Griffin was cutting a bit too close with this statement.

On Monday, Lamar Jackson‘s former backup, now ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III, had a minor slip-up that could have morphed into a major slip of the tongue. Luckily, no one got hurt by the word that popped out of his mouth, or did they?
Griffin was on the Baltimore Ravens roster for three seasons at the end of his career. That was about the time they drafted Jackson into the team. So he knows a thing or two about how the 26-year-old operates.
Before the MNF showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Las Vegas Raiders, Robert Griffin III presented the pregame show. The panel was discussing the Raven’s defeat at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers the day prior. Jackson did not have the best of games, but to RG III, that wasn’t entirely the two-time Pro Bowlers’ fault.
“The real question we need to ask is, ‘Is he getting enough out of the guys around him on offense?’” he argued in favor of Jackson. It didn’t cross his mind that the camera was still rolling and the place wasn’t a local deli. “He’s out there fighting for his f**king life, man. I don’t know what more the guy can do.”
It’s refreshing to see someone be frank about their opinion, but to blurt out an F-Bomb is a no-no in front of live television. Especially when the network is ESPN. Griffins’ co-host, Ryan Clark, is aware of that. As soon as he uttered “fudged,” Clark’s face dropped, and his body appeared to come to a halt.
Lamar Jackson shined amidst poor show by the catchers
In all honesty, the Ravens’ loss against the Steelers was their own doing. If the receivers have butter fingers, then even if Lamar Jackson throws a pass like a bullet, it will not stick in their palms. That was exactly the case at Acrisure Stadium.
2019’s Most Valuable Player of the League had his best game in terms of passes attempted. For the first time this season, Jackson threw over 35 passes while completing only 22 for 236 yards. That’s because most of the Ravens players just couldn’t close their palms quickly. Despite dominating proceedings for the most part, they ended up tasting defeat, which leaves them 3-2 after five games.
“We were right there; we had them beat; the offense had to find our groove; we didn’t find it,” Lamar Jackson told the media afterward. “Defense played a great game; they kept giving us opportunities; we just have to do what we do and finish drives.”
Robert Griffin III watched from the ESPN press booth as the Ravens blew a 10-3 lead in the fourth quarter. Punt, interception, and fumble—everything happened, and the Steelers got an unlikely victory. Those drops took a bad toll on the Baltimore franchise.
“We don’t expect our guys to drop passes; it happens in NFL football,” Jackson added. “It just happened at the wrong time.”
With the defeat, the Ravens’ chance of cementing their authority in the AFC North took a massive hit. Next, they will face the Tennessee Titans on October 15.
