“It’s sick,” Ryan Clark refused to work with Sage Steele following latter’s controversial comments on Covid-19 vaccine

SportsCenter anchor Sage Steele has decided to sue ESPN and its parent company Disney on the grounds that her right to free speech was violated in a podcast held way back in 2021. Following Steele’s comments on Jay Cutler’s podcast in September 2021, Ryan Clark refused to work alongside her on a show Steele was scheduled to host on the ESPN network.

ESPN did not agree to Clark’s demands of not taking part alongside Sage Steele, but the analyst followed his own gut and did not appear for the show later on. Clark did not face any consequences for not complying to the company’s orders according to her suit, which has been obtained by Outkick.

In the infamous podcast, Sage Steele called out Disney’s mandate to get all of its staff vaccinated. She did not agree with the mandate, and felt it was a scary proposition. Despite her not agreeing to the mandate, she did get herself immunized in order to continue in her position.

“I respect everyone’s decision, I really do, but to mandate it is, sick, and it’s scary to me in many ways,” Steele told Cutler in 2021.

“But I have a job, a job that I love, and frankly, a job that I need, but again, I love it. I’m not surprised it got to this point, especially with Disney, a global company…but it was actually emotional.”
