Ohio State and its head coach, Ryan Day, had a frustrating night as the team lost against the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines in a high-voltage game. This marked their first defeat this season; however, it was the third consecutive loss against Michigan in a high-voltage rivalry.
This game could result in the possible departure of Day as the Ohio head coach. Despite losing the game, Day did a pretty good job this year. The Buckeyes won 11 straight games, and the game against the Wolverines was their first loss in college football.
However, losing three consecutive derbies holds a lot of significance, and Day might resign since a lot of talks are surfacing. However, the HC attended the press conference and discussed the situation that was persisting in the dressing room. While facing the press, he said:
There is a locker room that is devastated. There was not a lack of effort, but we did not win the rushing yards. We did not win the battle.
The strategy of the HC was criticized after the game. Experts said he was too conservative to win the game and failed to give a much-needed push to the team so that they could seal things. In addition to this, the Michigan players were individually brilliant and had the ultimate grasp over their opponent.
Despite having a great performance in the rest of the games, losing three consecutive derbies will do no good to the head coach. As speculations have hit the air, the HC is in search of a new job.
Ryan Day can hit the Head Coach post of the Texas A&M
After the loss against Michigan, talks are going on that he can become the head coach of Texas A&M. Texas is presently looking for a coach who can guarantee them a winning streak, and Day is the perfect one to fit in the loop.
The HC secured 11 wins for Ohio State. Ohio was aggressive throughout the season and got the results that they wanted. Michigan was the only game when the HC went conservative, and the team paid for it.
It is to be seen whether Day resigns and leaves for Texas in the coming college season. Texas also had a winning season but failed to establish Ohio-like dominance. The team ended up winning seven games and losing five. Those five games became crucial in their college football journey.
