The Dallas Cowboys failed to win the NFC East this season but with a strong 10-4 record they have already clinched a playoff spot. This is the first time since the 2006-07 season, the Cowboys have made it to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.
While the Cowboys fans are enjoying their team’s success so far, the analysts have already started to diminish the Super Bowl hopes of the Cowboys nation. Sam Acho joined the First Take on ESPN to debate whether this year is Dak Prescott‘s best chance to get to the Super Bowl, in which Acho said that this Cowboys team has many flaws in their game and that in order to win they need to get better in some departments.
The former Arizona Cardinals linebacker also noted that Dallas’ offensive line is not helping Dak Prescott in the passing game. “Their offensive line is ranked 29th in pass protection,” said Acho before implying that Dallas is short on offensive weapons. “Dallas needs more weapons,” added Acho. While he acknowledged that most of the NFC teams are flawed, he was positive that it doesn’t change the fact that Dallas needs to play better to give themselves a chance to get to the Super Bowl. “The Dallas Cowboys need to be better as a team to have the best chance to win the Super Bowl.” said Acho.
Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys will be looking to prove all the doubters wrong on Christmas Eve when they go against their NFC East rival and the No.1 seeded team in the NFC, the Philadelphia Eagles.
How far will the Cowboys go?
The Dallas Cowboys will be playing in the NFL playoffs, With Dak Prescott as their quarterback and a defense that is putting fear on opposing quarterbacks, how far can the Cowboys really go?
It’s true that NFC does not have the star power in the quarterback position compared to AFC but there are still some good quarterbacks in NFC. Also, NFC has two of the best defenses in the whole league the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles. NFC teams like the Vikings and Lions are making some noise and even though the Bucs are struggling right now it is still a very good team.
The Cowboys’ division NFC East has zero teams with losing records. There are plenty of good teams in the NFC and if the Cowboys are thinking about making it to the Super Bowl, they have got a mountain to climb in front of them.
