Deshaun Watson is back in the NFL and his return is met with polarizing responses. While some people believe he did nothing wrong, NFL countdown Host Samantha Ponder begs to differ.
Samantha is a long-time NFL countdown host and has been following Watson since he was drafted. She had also met his family and interviewed the QB numerous times.
“When I first heard the early accusations, I’ll admit I didn’t believe it,” Ponder stated. “I’ve known Deshaun Watson since his freshman year at Clemson. Hugged his mom, interviewed him many times, and considered him a friend. I’ve only personally experienced him as kind, humble, and loving. And if I kept a list of players least likely to do something terrible, he would’ve been at the top.”
The NFL Host confessed at first that she didn’t believe in the accusations made of Watson by more than two dozen women for sexual misconduct, but sooner or later, reality slips through the cracks.
Samantha was hurt by Watson’s return and broke down in tears while giving her monologue on the Browns QB who was allowed to play in the NFL after an 11-game suspension.
Samantha Ponder didn’t believe that Deshaun Watson was capable of such acts
Deshaun Watson’s case was a major upset to the entire country and shook the people who admired the young QB for his attitude and skills. Samantha Ponder was one of them, who had built a certain opinion on the Browns QB and now wasn’t able to decide what the 27-year-old is capable of.
“Is he a conniving predator or a sympathetic victim?” Samantha questioned. “A wolf in sheep’s clothing or prey to manipulative liars who only see dollar signs. Are we privileged enough to not really have to think about it?”
Samantha also took a shot at people protecting Watson and stated that we will never know the true extent of what happened and even called out the Browns QB for not accepting his mistake and trying to apologize.
“Unfortunately, we probably won’t ever have any conclusive resolution,” Samantha continued. “But this I do know, I am skeptical of literally anyone, including someone I know and care for, who won’t admit to a sin that even the most highest among us haven’t avoided.”
Deshaun Watson played in his first game back, which resulted in a win for the Browns against his former team Texans where 10 women who accused the QB of sexual misconduct were also present.
