Aaron Rodgers has an extremely talented arm, the quarterback is the perfect QB that any team wants to maintain as its franchise player. His numerous regular-season MVPs and clutch plays are proof of his talent. Despite this, Rodgers does not seem to be a quarterback that many top wideouts want to play with. This does not bother him either as Aaron is known to make the best out of any situation.
This offseason in particular was hard for the quarterback, he lost his top weapon and the top wideout in the entire NFL, Davante Adams. Adams was the Scottie Pippen to Rodgers’ Michael Jordan and the duo split due to Aaron’s uncertain future. However, the Packers organization did try to set their quarterback up with other weapons such as Sammy Watkins who was on the Kansas City Chiefs. Apart from him, there’s Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard, the duo may not be amongst the top 5 wideouts across the NFL but they are reliable players.
Sammy Watkins has had the experience of playing with Patrick Mahomes and now will play for Aaron Rodgers:
This is the first time that Rodgers will be playing with Watkins and now that all teams have opened up their training camps, we are getting a first-hand experience of how the new rosters stack up and this also gives players a much-needed chance to develop chemistry between one another.
Sammy Watkins practiced with Rodgers today for the first time as he was unable to do so previously because he was placed on the non-football injury list after he reported to camp with a hamstring injury. He was recently activated to play on Friday and he was in practice on Saturday. Following his first practice of the summer with the team, Watkins was asked by fellow wideout Randall Cobb about his first impressions of playing with Rodgers. He went on to ask him if he would pick “Mahomes or Rodgers?”
Sammy Watkins did not hesitate to answer and had this to say about his new quarterback, “I think Pat(Patrick Mahomes) is unbelievably good, but A-Rod(Aaron Rodgers) is on a whole different level.” Does this end the debate between Mahomes and Rodgers? Maybe but the similarities between the two still remain.
Both of them have the amazing arm strength, Mahomes beats Rodgers in certain aspects as he is more mobile and can virtually throw the ball if he is floating mid-air as well. However, Aaron can make the most of any roster that he is dealt with, he just manages to make average players look like Pro Bowlers.
