“He gets his A** kicked out there”: NFL Offensive Coach brutally criticizes Saquon Barkley

Saquon Barkley
Saquon Barkley is an anomaly when healthy, the running back can play at the highest level possible. However, he seems to be heading in a rather dangerous direction as he is one of those players who are prone to injury. This is surprising because the dude looks like a smaller version of Derrick Henry, he is built like a tank and can run through cornerbacks and safeties like they are nothing.
Saquon seems to be the Zion Williamson of the NBA as he has immense potential but is struggling to say healthy. The running back is now not only taking hits from opposition players on the field but is also taking hits from coaches in the league. This criticism stems from the fact that Barkley thinks that due to his physical superiority, he can go overboard on plays and end up doing more harm than good for the team.
“He doesn’t know how to play running back”: NFL coach criticizes Barkley’s game

ESPN recently made a list of the top running backs in the NFL on the basis of votes it got from players, coaches, and scouts. The Giants RB did not make it on the list but he made it to the top of a different list that nobody would want to be on.
An NFL offensive coach gave Barkley a negative review, he went as far as to state that the RB has no knowledge of how his position is played. Here’s what he said, “Barkley was No. on this list two years ago, but his decline has been precipitous. Injuries have cost him 33 games over four seasons, but that’s hardly the only issue with his game. He produced just 59 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 162 carries.”
The coach believes that he believes in Saquon’s potential but he needs to learn how to play. “I’m down on him, he still doesn’t know how to play running back enough. He’s a bouncer, he wants every run to be a home run. He’s going to have to learn that 4-yard runs in this league are good instead of stopping, cutting it back, and losing. He gets his a** kicked in protection,” another veteran NFL offensive coach stated.
Saquon has had amazing debut seasons, he recorded 1,000 yards in his first two seasons and also went to the Pro Bowl as a rookie. He also won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2018. After that point, things seemed to decline for Barkley. His 2020 season came to an end because of a torn ACL. He recorded just 593 yards and two touchdowns.
In the final year of his rookie contract, the RB needs to make a statement this season to not only the Giants organization but also to those who are doubting that his best days may be behind him.
Saquon can be a top back in the league if he can stay healthy. Given his frame and the amount of mass he carries, it’s harder for his ankles to be flexible and not get injured. The Giants tend to play better with Barkley active, and this season we will get to see two statement seasons from two players of the Giants. Quarterback Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley both need to redeem themselves to fans and the front office to prove they deserve to be paid.
