The New York Jets roped in the veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the 2023 off-season via a trade with the Green Bay Packers. They believe Rodgers would lead them to glory land in the upcoming season. But an AFC South scout has different opinions about the 10-time Pro Bowl QB, who is coming off an average campaign in 2022.

In a recent ESPN list of quarterback rankings voted by NFL executives, scouts, players, and coaches, Rodgers was ranked as 4th best signal caller in the league, down from his No.1 spot last season. However, one AFC South doesn’t believe the 39-year-old QB should be in the top 5 along with current top-tier QBs like Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen.

“I think everyone is afraid to say he’s declined a little,” an AFC scout said, according to ESPN. “He’s still a great thrower and sees it really well, but he’s more like [ranked] eight to 12 for me.” After a remarkable stretch of two years when he won back-to-back MVP awards with the Packers, Rodgers’ production took a massive dip in 2022 which led to the Green Bay-based franchise missing the postseason.

However, other scouts and executives are still giving Aaron Rodgers the deserved respect. Especially an NFC North coach said that Rodgers is one of the players “that you hate to face” and is “glad to have him out of the division.”

Others believe that Rodgers would be able to revive his career with the young wide receivers of the NY Jets, just like Tom Brady did with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Matthew Stafford did with the Los Angeles Rams. An AFC executive claimed that Rodgers will take advantage of the Jets’ offensive weapons.

The Jets have one of the worst playoff droughts in all 4 major sporting leagues in the United States. They haven’t been to the postseason in more than a decade.

Last season, the New York-based football team missed the playoffs with an 8-9 record. But this upcoming season they are a bit optimistic about their chances after acquiring Aaron Rodgers in the off-season.

The Jets believe the experience and leadership quality of the 39-year-old signal-caller will help the Jets to reach the playoffs in the 2023 season. Along with Rodgers, the Jets have some of the most talented players on their squad.

If the 4-time league MVP quarterback can avoid injuries, the Jets certainly have a shot at making the playoffs and even winning the Super Bowl in the near future.
