“The field was hard,” Seahawks HC Pete Carroll left unimpressed with playing conditions in Munich

NFL teams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Seattle Seahawks locked horns in Germany at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The Allianz Stadium is the home ground of the popular European soccer team, FC Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich plays in the Bundesliga, which is the first division of football in Germany.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came out on top with a 21-16 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday and are currently 5-5 in the current season while the Seahawks stand at 6-4. However, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was disappointed with the playing conditions in Munich.
Pete Carroll on the 710 ESPN Radio in Seattle said that players couldn’t get a proper footing in Munich and they couldn’t find balance. While the NFL plans to conduct more games in international venues, they will have to keep these things in mind.

Pete Carroll and Todd Bowles are both critical of the playing field in Munich
Although the atmosphere around the Allianz Stadium in Germany drew praise from both Todd Bowles and Pete Carroll, the playing field was a disappointment for both of them. Todd Bowles complained that the field was very slippery and extremely short.
Pete Carroll, while speaking on the quality of the playing field, said that he couldn’t comprehend why people who play soccer would like a surface like that which was so uneven. Carroll added that at the end of the day, the main motive should be to make a turf that is safe.
“I don’t know soccer to know why they would like the field like that,” Pete Carroll said. “I think the topic is kind of on right now on fields in general, and we just like to keep getting better at it, and understanding how we can make the game safer, and the game better in all ways. That’s not to say it has to be natural turf versus artificial or whatever. We just need to keep working at it, but it’s really nice when it is uniform. I know they pay attention. They talked about it when we were in London also. It was the same discussion.”
“The field was hard on everybody,” Carroll said. “It was really, it was slick, I guess you could say. Everybody, both sides of the ball, I think in all positions, it had some effect. But remember that it’s the same [for both teams]. It’s not a factor that anyone is more behind it. It was just hard on everyone, and you could tell. I wish the field was firmer.”
