Sean McDermott showed great strength and leadership after what happened to Damar Hamlin during their game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday. The Bills head coach told Zac Taylor he won’t continue to coach that game as he wanted to be with Hamlin’s family at the hospital during this rough time.

The game was postponed and eventually canceled by the National Football League. Regardless, the Bengals will be facing the Baltimore Ravens and the Bills will be going against the New England Patriots in week 18. Ahead of their game, McDermott and Bills QB Josh Allen addressed the media after going through some rough days. In the press conference, the HC got emotional as he started to talk about the miraculous recovery of Hamlin.

“He (Sean McDermott) was the perfect man to handle that type of situation,” the quarterback said. “Being on the field, you hurt for your brother … Coach handled it as perfect as anybody could. … I don’t typically like using emotion to answer questions, but the scene just replays over and over in your head. It’s hard to actually describe how I felt, how my teammates felt, in that moment. It’s something we’ll never forget,” said Allen about how the coach handled the whole situation.
