“Wish I handled him better”: Despite past disagreements, Sean McVay admits the best text he received after Super Bowl win was from Jared Goff

Sean McVay and Jared Goff

The LA Rams had a dream season last time around. It felt like everything they did, all the trades they executed turned out to be masterstrokes. One major addition to their side last time around was star QB Matthew Stafford who roped in after Jared Goff was traded to the Lions.

Initially, there were reports that Goff wasn’t pleased with the way he was traded. In fact, McVay admitted that communication between him and Goff could have been better at that time. However, the good thing is, it is all in the past and as it turns out, Goff is extremely happy with the way the Rams have shaped up.

Recently, champion coach McVay made an appearance on Mike Silver’s podcast where he claimed that after the last season’s Super Bowl win, the best text he got was actually from Goff. “The thing that shows what a stud and what a class act he really is, is one of the best text messages I got after the Super Bowl was from Jared Goff,” McVay claimed.

The further we get away, the more appreciation we’ll have for the great four years we did have together because it was a lot of really good times. He’s a special guy, very good football player that does a great job for the Lions,” McVay stated, adding that he is now on fantastic terms with Jared and both of them have got immense respect for one another.

I didn’t like the outside-in narrative but I think he knows where my heart was and I was glad we were able to connect, sit down, be honest with each other and I think we both have a lot of respect for each other and I wish I had handled it better as a leader for him,” the Rams head coach further said.

It is indeed good to see that what gained attention for being a troubled relationship eventually transformed into great camaraderie.
