The Los Angeles Chargers recent firing of Brandon Staley has resulted in the team’s fanbase celebrating it with the same fervor as they do Christmas. The team’s 5-9 record this season has resulted in it being at the bottom of the AFC West, and after the team’s humiliating 63-21 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, one thing was evident. Brandon Staley is not head coaching material.
Before he took on the HC role of the Chargers, Staley was the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams under Sean McVay in 2020. The Rams HC was asked to give his thoughts after Staley lost his job. McVay, as the public knows, is a humble person, and he did nothing but express his support to him.
You want to be there for your friend. And I also know what a great coach he is and what he's meant to me, what I've learned from him. These are things that are really challenging, and I've grown up in the business and there's a lot of tough things.McVay said to the LA Times acknowledging he relates to the ups and downs involved in this business.

McVay further said,
I know what a great coach he is. I know what I've seen from my own eyes and I know that he's going to respond and he's got a really bright future.
While Staley did have a lot to do with the team’s performance this season, after he was fired, some fans did allude to the fact that he was being scapegoated for mistakes made by the Chargers’ front office and the inconsistent performance of QB Justin Herbert this season.
Brandon Staley should go back to the drawing board before taking on another Head Coaching role
His departure leaves the Chargers’ HC position wide open. It is a role that will attract a lot of candidates considering the fact that the team is based in Los Angeles and it has a young and talented quarterback in Justin Herbert who can work wonders when put in the right situation. The team could head in an entirely different direction by bringing a fresh face into the organization instead of promoting Kellen Moore or Renaldo Hill, the current offensive and defensive coordinators of the team.

Could it be Bill Belichick who assumes his role? Yes, after news has begun to spread that he is in his last season as the HC of the New England Patriots, Chargers fans are hoping he would consider LA as they have a talented roster with a great quarterback.
As for Sean McVay, there’s an element of luck that comes with being one of his assistant coaches as three of his past coordinators have become Head Coaches in the NFL, namely Matt LaFleur, Zac Taylor, and Kevin O’Connell. McVay said this in that regards,
When good things happen in your building, good opportunities come, just like I was so fortunate and blessed a handful of years ago to get this opportunity.
He acknowledged that it is not easy to lose people as it has its impact on team chemistry but at the same time, he expressed gratitude that the individuals are getting opportunities they deserve.
