The newly appointed Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton is trying to recruit the legendary Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski to his team, and he is busting his gut to get the job done.

In a video posted by the official Fox News handle on social media, Payton attempts to recruit Gronkowski by joking that he’s working on changing the team from Broncos to Groncos. “I’m working on changing our name to the Denver Groncos,” joked Payton in an attempt to lure the Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski out of retirement.

Furthermore, the Super Bowl-winning head coach also wanted Gronkowski to wear a navy-blue shirt with an orange tie. To which the 4-time Super Bowl Champion enthusiastically replied, “Oh yeah, totally! the Denver Groncos? 100%.”

It is unsure whether they’re joking around or Payton’s serious about getting Gronkowski out of retirement. But it’s highly unlikely Rob Gronkowski will unretire a second time, especially to play for a quarterback not named Tom Brady.

The blockbuster trade between the Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks for Russell Wilson in the 2022 off-season hasn’t been working out for the Denver-based football team. The Seahawks fleeced the Broncos by getting 2 first-round draft picks for the aging Wilson which they turned into LT Charles Cross and a top 5 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, where they would have a chance to draft one of the top 3 QBs to develop under the Pro Bowl quarterback Geno Smith.

It seemed like the Broncos were deemed to fail due to the massive contract of Russell Wilson and less draft capital, but the hiring of the proven winner Sean Payton has shifted the narrative in Denver.

Payton previously worked with legendary QB Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints for 15 years and won the big game once back in 2009. Furthermore, he also has won the Coach of the Year award once in 2006.

Apart from that one Super Bowl, the coach has massively underachieved with the talented Saints team he had. Moreover, the ingenious head coach was also banned for one year in 2012 due to the infamous bounty gate allegations.

While Sean Payton and Russell Wilson both have had success separately, it’s hard to see them succeeding together, especially with a descending Wilson who really doesn’t have a lot of help in the pass-catching department.
