Former NFL veteran Shannon Sharpe criticized Patrick Mahomes and his team after their loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. Mahomes was a bit silent against the Eagles as the QB completed only 24 of his 43 passes with two touchdowns and an interception. Considering his ability, it was a disappointment for him and Sharpe focussed on that. In the recent episode of ‘First Take,’ the former player and the present-day analyst said that no one fears the Chiefs anymore.

Sharpe said:

Well, I have been sounding the alarm bell about the Chiefs from very very early on. But at some point of time, even Patrick Mahomes' greatness can not overcome the inadequate inadequacies of the wide receiver position. Also, they are averaging five points per game in the second half in the third straight game which they have been shut out in thye second half. You can't overcome, I do not care how great your quarterback is.

The analyst later went on to discuss how the Chiefs were shut out in the second half in the last few games. He gave the instance of the Denver Broncos game, which was decided in the second half (i.e. in the fourth quarter). The Broncos were leading by 14-9 and the fourth quarter created a staunch difference between the two teams. The Broncos scored 10 points and held the Chiefs at zero. It was a very poor offensive display from the Chiefs.

After accelerating their NFL journey in the middle, the Chiefs witnessed a certain downfall. Their last few games were low-scoring and hardly created threats to the opponents’ defense. Their offensive struggle against the Eagles was pretty alarming. The team’s continuous struggle with the wide receiver is persisting.

Shannon Sharpe called the Chiefs’ offense toothless

Shannon Sharpe had some strong words against the Chiefs’ offense. He was so frustrated that he even said that people no longer fear the Chiefs offense.

The analyst said:

You are not going to win like that. This offense is not good enough. People do not fear this offense anymore because this offense leaves a lot to be fearful of or not to be fearful of.

Interestingly, Sharpe had good words for the Chiefs’ defense. He said that this is the best defense that Patrick Mahomes is playing with. In addition to this, the analyst also noted how the defense restricted the powerful Eagles’ offense from scoring much.
