“He should be fired,” Shannon Sharpe berates Cowboys employee’s Tweet from official account criticizing Dak Prescott

For the Dallas Cowboys, things have taken a huge turn after their NFL divisional round game this week. The Cowboys suffered a heartbreaking defeat against the San Francisco 49ers by a margin of 19-12.

Following the defeat, plenty of critics targetted quarterback Dak Prescott and head coach Mike McCarthy, for their incapability to lead the team to the Super Bowl. In today’s day and age, criticisms are very much part and parcel of every player’s life.

However, if that comes from someone within your own franchise, that definitely tells you something about the franchise. Dak Prescott had a first-hand experience of such criticism, seconds after he was on the gridiron fighting for his team’s cause.

The Dallas Cowboys official Twitter account put up a tweet, highlighting their quarterback’s poor performance during the loss. Talking about Prescott’s two interceptions, the tweet also talked about how the Cowboys self-inflicted a defeat on themselves.

“Dak Prescott gave away the ball twice in the narrow loss to the 49ers, in a matchup the Cowboys had a chance to win if they didn’t again generate self-inflicted wounds,” the tweet read on the Cowboys’ official account.

Dak Prescott was thrown under the bus

Former NFL wide receiver turned podcast show host, Shannon Sharpe turned his attention to this particular tweet, while speaking on the Undisputed show. He slammed the person responsible for such a tweet, which simply threw Prescott under the bus.

While honesty is appreciated, pointing out a particular player in a team game is often not the norm. It becomes all the more difficult to understand when it comes from your own franchise’s Twitter account.

Sharpe urged the Cowboys to fire the employee responsible for it immediately if it had not been done by then. The veteran also gave the example of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who he felt would never be treated this way.

This is a team official account. At first, I thought they were hacked. I said somebody hacked this account, and then I look and it’s still up, so clearly it hasn’t been hacked. This came from a team official that runs their social media account and they thought it was ok to throw Dak Prescott under the bus,” Sharpe exclaimed.

“Teams are very conscious to not throw their superstars under the bus, especially from their team account. I can assure you if the Chiefs lose, there won’t be a picture of Patrick Mahomes. But to throw him [Prescott] under the bus, to this level, to this magnitude, that employee should be fired if he hasn’t been already.”
