Aaron Rodgers has been gaining a lot of attention from the media over the past few weeks and it’s not for a good reason. The 39-year-old QB and his team got eliminated from playoff contentions after losing to the Detroit Lions in their week 18 matchup. The Lions walked into Lambeau Field and kicked out the Green Bay Packers from the NFL postseason.
Furthermore, many people started speculating about Rodgers’ future in the league over the QB’s action after the game. The reigning NFL MVP took an emotional walk with long-time teammate Randall Cobb which didn’t sit well with the Packers fans. In addition to that, there was also a video that started trending online, in which the Lions RB Jamaal Williams asked Rodgers for his game-worn jersey. To the request, Rodgers replied by saying, “I Gotta hold on to this one.”
Amidst the speculations, the 4-time league MVP has angered a lot of people with his comments on his future. During his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show in a recent episode Rodgers said that he can win MVP again under the right circumstances. “Do I still think I can play? Of course. Can I play at a high level? Yeah. The highest. I think I can win MVP again in the right situation,” Rodgers said. “Is that Green Bay or is that somewhere else? I’m not sure, but I don’t think you should shut down any opportunity,” said Rodgers on a recent of The Pat McAfee Show.
Fox Sports analyst and former Denver Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe took issue with Rodgers’ comments. He didn’t like how the back-to-back MVP is thinking about individual awards instead of Championships.
Shannon Sharpe rips Aaron Rodgers

Speaking on his show UNDISPUTED with Skip Bayless, Sharpe said that Rodgers will not walk away from 60 million dollars by retiring. “Is he gonna be in Green Bay or is he gonna be elsewhere? those are only two choices because he’s not retiring and leaving 60 million dollars in the table,” said Sharpe about Rodgers’ choices.
Shannon Sharpe also expressed his frustrations with Rodgers’ comments about winning MVP. “That goes to show you right there what’s important to him, individual awards,” added Sharpe about Rodgers’ comments. “Ask Brady what he would’ve said. Brady thinking about championships, he (Rodgers) thinking about MVP awards.”
The 3-time Super Bowl Champion also expressed his frustrations with the Packers for sticking with him. “Green Bay, you all gon.. you ain’t learned your lesson yet. At some point in time just move on,” said Sharpe in a recent episode on his show UNDISPUTED. “Green Bay, stop letting this man hold y’all hostage.”
The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers signed a 3 year $150 million contract just last off-season. So it’s highly unlikely he’ll walk away from that kind of money and retire from the sport of football.
