The New York Jets, led by their star quarterback Zach Wilson, suffered a humiliating loss against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. During the game, Wilson threw 3 interceptions that proved to be very costly for the New York-based football team. Wilson was criticized by many for his abysmal outing against the Cowboys. And now, ESPN personality Shannon Sharpe has blasted the former second-overall pick.

“I said it last week, you’re not going to win with him,” Sharpe said in the recent episode of the ESPN show First Take when asked by host Molly Qerim if Wilson’s horrible performance proved the Jets need another signal-caller.

Furthermore, Sharpe took a hilarious jab at Zach Wilson, which made the entire room laugh. In addition, he made it clear that the Jets need to add a new quarterback to replace Aaron Rodgers to win games.

“I mean, the dude couldn’t play dead in a horror movie. How many scenes do you need to see?,” said Shannon Sharpe. “I’ve seen all of the ‘Friday the 13th’ [movies]. I’ve seen all of the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” [movies] and he can’t play dead.”

On a serious note, Sharpe said if the Jets really believed in Wilson, they wouldn’t have gone all out in the off-season to acquire Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers in a blockbuster trade. Sharpe said that the Jets know Wilson can’t play and should look for another quarterback.

“At some point in time you have to come to the realization, he is what he is,” said Sharpe.“If you thought he could play just a tad, there is no way you would have mortgage what you mortgaged and paid Aaron Rodgers what you paid him. Now, it’s sad. It’s disheartening that four plays into his tenure with the Jets, he goes down and now your worst fear is realized, Zach Wilson has to play.”

Zach Wilson has the support of his teammates despite his horrible outing

Following Zach Wilson’s terrible outing against the Cowboys on Sunday, many experts, including Shannon Sharpe, suggested that the Jets have to look for another quarterback in the market.

However, the Jets players, head coach Robert Saleh, and Aaron Rodgers all have shown support to Wilson despite his poor performance. The Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson said that it’s easy to blame the quarterback for the loss, but Zach played well against the Cowboys and that everyone has to step up their game to help him get better.

The Jets RB Breece Hall said that the play callers abandoning the run game was the main reason behind his team’s struggles against the Dallas-based football team.

Nonetheless, the Jets haven’t made any move to add a new QB to their roster so far. But they are expected to add a veteran to challenge Wilson for the starting QB job soon. As of now, Wilson remains the starting quarterback of the NY Jets.
