The Dallas Cowboys have failed to make it to the Super Bowl yet again. The team lost to the San Francisco 49ers 19-12 in a highly anticipated matchup. The Cowboys failed to keep up with the expectations yet again and this time, it may be due to their quarterback, Dak Prescott. While the Cowboys’ defense did well, the offense was not able to perform on the same level. Prescott ended the game with 2 interceptions, 1 touchdown, and 206 yards thrown.
In light of his underwhelming performance, Undisputed analyst Shannon Sharpe criticized him and made a compelling case to blame him for the team’s struggles in the NFL Divisional round. Here’s what Sharpe had to say with respect to Dak, “I think the biggest reason they lost is the inconsistency of Dak Prescott and therefore the inconsistency of the offense…When the Cowboys run the football more than they throw it, the chances of them winning greatly increases.”
Shannon Sharpe points out that the Cowboys have had greater success in situations when they have opted to run the ball more than rely on the passing game. “They threw the ball 15 more times than they ran it yesterday. That is a recipe for you getting bounced.” The analyst highlighted Dak Prescott’s style of play in the past 7-years.

Is it time for the Dallas Cowboys to start thinking past Dak Prescott?
“He (Dak) is inconsistent, we saw 7-straight games, the man throws a pick…how much do you need to see before you realize Dak Prescott is inconsistent?” Sharpe calls out Prescott for being inconsistent and during the season, he has had a stretch of games where he has thrown an interception continually. Dak has had games where he has not thrown picks, but Sharpe’s biggest criticism is that he gets too much credit for these games and not too much criticism for his consistent habit of throwing interceptions.
The Dallas Cowboys missed their reliable wideout in Amari Cooper as despite CeeDee Lamb having 10 receptions, he could not score. Michael Gallup did not have a single reception while Tony Pollard was able to put up just 11 yards on the board. Shannon goes on to add, “Jerry Jones got on his radio show and it was quoted, ‘Turnovers is not Dak’s DNA.’ Guess what, I called Maury Povich, and Dak you are the father of those turnovers, you are the father of those 2 interceptions and those 7-straight games with at least 1 interception.”
Throwing interceptions have become an increasing concern in Dak Prescott’s game lately. This playoff loss does sting for Cowboy fans. Well, better luck next time. This loss does give rise to an interesting question. Should Dallas consider looking for other alternative replacements at the QB apart from Dak Prescott?
