What an absolute cracker of an offseason we have had and more often than not, Cleveland Browns have found themselves at the center of all the drama. They have stayed in the news which isn’t a bad thing for an NFL franchise, however, the reasons for which the team has made the headlines aren’t going to please a lot of their fans.
First, they made it crystal clear that they aren’t interested in giving Baker Mayfield another chance and went all in to get Deshaun Watson. After much deliberation, they were able to rope him in for a massive amount. However, the QB’s legal troubles landed them in a very tricky situation and now, they have traded Baker to the Carolina Panthers and that too in exchange for a conditional fifth round pick.

While a lot of people are happy for Baker, many have opined that the Browns sent him to the worst possible franchise. Panthers, as we all are aware, have been rather lackluster in the past so it will be a tough transition for Baker. Talking about the Baker-Panthers situation, Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe had a few things to say on ‘The Undisputed.’
“I will say Sam Darnold is going to start at least five games and then an injury problem forces him out and Baker Mayfield takes over. If you choose between the two, Sam Darnold is slightly better as he knows the system, he started in the system,” Skip stated but went on to add that actually there are no great choices here.
“You are asking me choose between spam and baloney,” Shannon said. Apparently, Skip wasn’t in agreement with what Sharpe claimed and asked him again if he indeed thinks Sam is better than Mayfield. To this Shannon replied ‘yes.’ This is indeed an interesting discussion as both the QBs haven’t really been able to do justice to their talents.
Although Baker had a disastrous last season, he was playing with an injury but no one can deny that he failed to do what was expected from him. Baker now has a massive chance to redeem himself and the Panthers, given that he gets a chance to start.
