In a poignant twist of fate, Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Shaq Barrett and his wife, Jordanna Barrett, have been blessed with a new addition to their family—a baby girl named Allanah Ray. The joyous occasion comes just nine months after the heartbreaking loss of their 2-year-old daughter, Arrayah Barrett, who tragically drowned in a family pool last spring.
Barrett, a two-time Super Bowl champion, shared the news on social media, expressing both elation and bittersweet emotions. Jordanna announced on Instagram, alongside heartwarming photos of the newborn:
We welcomed Our sweet Allanah 2•3•24 we love you so much already babygirl!Jordanna Barrett on Instagram

The Barretts are no strangers to parenthood. Alongside Allanah, they have three other children: Braylon Barrett (10), Shaquil Jr. (11), and Aaliyah Barrett (8). Daughter Arrayah, who was only a few weeks old when she drowned in a pool at the family’s house in April of last year, was also born to the couple.
Barrett, 31, and Jordanna disclosed Barrett’s pregnancy on Instagram in July. Jordanna wrote as a caption on the post:

Barrett started the 15 games that he played this season out of a possible 17. With a 9–8 record, the Bucs were first in the NFC South. They defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round of the playoffs before falling to the Detroit Lions in the division championship.
Shaq Barrett might not return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next season
Shaq Barrett, an edge rusher for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is under contract through the 2024 season, but he’s not assuming he will be back with the team to play out the final year of his deal.

Following the death of his daughter in the spring, Barrett’s fifth season with the Bucs included 52 tackles, 4.5 sacks, an interception, and three forced fumbles. During his Monday discussion about his future with the team, Barrett brought up that loss and the support he received from them.
Barrett said, via Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times:
I’ve been around for a minute, and I know with my contract and my production and they have some promising young guys that all factor into it. But I would still love to be here. It’s like a second home... My kids love it down here... Just rocking with me, sticking with me through everything and hope it’s not, but I know it is a real possibility. But I hope it’s not.Shaq Barrett said
Barrett’s cap space of over $14 million in 2024 would not be greatly reduced by designating him a post-June 1 cut, but given the competition for his spot at the position and the upcoming free agents, it may be his last chance to stay in Tampa.
