On Saturday, Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes went against the Arizona State Sun Devils in a Pac-12 showdown. Sanders and the Buffaloes were keen to break their 2-game losing streak, but the Sun Devils put up a tough fight. Colorado’s offensive line was struggling in the game, leading their star quarterback to use his legs to secure a touchdown against Arizona State.
During the final seconds of the second quarter, Shedeur Sanders and the Buffaloes were facing a crucial 3rd and 10 from Arizona State’s 11-yard line. Sanders, who received the snap from the shotgun position, took off with the rock as soon as the pocket started to collapse. He outran a couple of defenders and got a block from one of his wide receivers at the goal line, which helped him score the touchdown.
With the rushing TD and an extra point, the Colorado Buffaloes were able to tie the scores at 14 apiece. That was the only rushing TD Sanders scored in the game. Check out the video footage attached below of the electric touchdown.
Furthermore, Sanders had a great game on Saturday despite playing behind a poor offensive line. The Colorado QB completed 26 of his 42 pass attempts for 239 yards and 1 touchdown. He also rushed for one more. Sanders balled out despite his offensive line giving up 5 sacks in the game. In the end, Colorado won the Pac-12 showdown against the Sun Devils 27-24 in a close game.
Nonetheless, the Buffaloes broke their 2-game losing streak with this win and are now looking to get on a roll. Next, Colorado will go up against the struggling Stanford next weekend.
Shedeur Sanders is a Heisman Trophy candidate
The Colorado Buffaloes’ star quarterback Shedeur Sanders has shocked many people with his level of play in Pac-12 so far. In fact, Sanders is one of the leading Heisman Candidates through 6 weeks of the ongoing college football season.
In his first six games as the Colorado quarterback, Sanders has thrown for 1,781 yards and 15 touchdowns while completing 74.8% of his pass attempts. Besides, he has only thrown 2 interceptions in 6 outings. It should be noted that he is playing without one of his top receivers, Travis Hunter, in his last 3 games.
Sanders is undeniably a Heisman Trophy candidate early in the season along with the USC Trojans QB Caleb Williams. If the Colorado QB can keep up his pace, he could end up giving a tough competition for Williams in the Heisman race.
