Blind faith can lead a person into trouble, similar to what Skip Bayless is currently facing. The veteran football analyst’s one social media post in support of Deion Sanders has generated an immense backlash from fans after Coach Prime’s Colorado Buffaloes lost 14-56 against the Washington Cougars yesterday.

Bayless’ devotion to Sanders stems from the fact that the 71-year-old is a self-proclaimed Dallas Cowboys fanatic. Sanders played for the ‘Americas Team, one of the most successful periods of the franchise’s history.

The star running back may have retired from playing football, but that connection was always there. And it resurfaced once more when Sanders decided to try his luck in coaching and joined his son, Shedeur Sander‘s school, Jackson State.

After a couple of glorious years, he moved to Boulder, Colorado, and took over the reins of the Buffaloes football program. He was met with intense scrutiny for doing so because this was a team that had just won one game all season. Even then, there was one person who came to Deion Sanders’ defense, and that was Skip Bayless, calling for people to wait and let him build a team.

However, with just one game left to go in the 2023 season, the Buffs are 4-7 and are basically out of any bowl. And Friday night’s defeat at the hands of Washington was one of the two horrible performances this season (Oregon 42-6).

On the bright side, they won 4 games, which is 3 more than last time, and they could have won a few more if they had a food defense. Most will acknowledge that, but Bayless chose to remind everyone with his signature style:

Deion doubters: Enjoy this while you can.

And it backfired.

Social media said enough is enough to Skip Bayless for constantly promoting Deion Sanders

There are always two sides to a coin. On one end, some believe that Deion Sanders can turn things around at the Buffs. Then there are the ones who are fed up with the people who keep pushing that exact narrative more and more, even though it hasn’t worked.

A majority of that section wants Skip Bayless to stop pushing the same agenda. One commenter said, “This is not about Deion Sanders haters. Actually, this is about hatred for the sports media, who were worshipping Deion Sanders like he was the second coming of Jesus Christ. It got sickening after a while.”

Colorado was not good against the Cougars, as evident by the scoreline. On top of that, they lost Shedeur Sanders due to a hand injury. In his absence, both backups, Ryan Staub and Gavin Kuld, shared snaps.

Sanders finished the game with six completions for 86 yards and one touchdown pass to Travis Hunter, who caught the ball four times for 82 yards. They close off the 2023 college football year with a trip to Rice Eccles Stadium and face the 6th-ranked Utah State Utes.
