Nathaniel Hackett didn’t even last a complete season at the Broncos, after moving from the Packers in search of a bigger position. The former HC was the Packers’ offensive coordinator and then later took the Broncos HC job.

Hackett was immediately fired after the stomping that Broncos received against the Rams on Christmas Eve. The defending champions scored 51 points against them while Broncos only managed to score a mere 14 points.

Many analysts pointed fingers at QB Russell Wilson for probably having the worst game of his career. However, there had to be a scapegoat and Hackett was the one who took the fall while losing his job.

Skip Bayless had an interesting theory regarding Hackett, as he knew him since the former HC was 8 years old. Bayless pointed out that Hackett was a great play-caller during his time with the Packers and his calm composure and attitude are what attracted the people the most.

“I think Nathaniel Hackett is a smart young man at age 42,” Bayless stated on the UNDISPUTED. “I could have never imagined him being the HC of the Denver Broncos.”

The NFL analyst revealed an interesting detail about Hackett being hired as the Broncos HC and it involves the legendary Aaron Rodgers.

Hackett and Rodgers had a great relationship when the former was the offensive coordinator with the Packers. The 42-year-old understood Rodgers and had a great understanding with him.

Skip Bayless has a wild theory on this relation. He thinks that Hackett was solely hired so that the Broncos could sway the Packers QB to join the Broncos. However, it didn’t work out the way they wanted to and had to settle with Russell Wilson.

“Nathaniel got very close with Aaron Rodgers, and Aaron has sworn by him publicly many times and stated that he loves having him around.” Skip Bayless continued his theory on the show. “The best way to get Rodgers is to get the coach he loves the most”

Hackett was not a good fit for the Broncos and that, coupled with Wilson failing miserably, had adverse effects on the team’s morale and later on their record.

The former Broncos HC was fired after an abysmal 4-11 record in the NFL. With two games still left in the season, the Broncos are without an HC, and Wilson is still out of form and playing terribly.
