‘Skip Bayless vs Skip Bayless!’ What would the situation look like? Strange or maybe scary, isn’t it? People who are aware of Bayless’ way of analyzing sports know how shrewd he is and his remarks are. So handling two Bayless will be a very difficult job for the analysts and the others.
But nearly the same situation happened last year when Shannon Sharpe, the former co-host of ‘Undisputed’, did nearly the same thing. He wore a mask of Bayless and hosted an episode together. The mask was properly crafted and it resembled Bayless. Even the wrinkles were also clearly visible.
The situation was awkward. Skip Bayless had no idea that the thing was going to happen.
However, one thing was clear. Bayless did not enjoy the discussion nor the prank as he was not seen laughing. The analyst was visibly shocked by the prank. Nonetheless, he did not create a scene by shouting at Sharpe. He calmly let it go since both of them enjoyed a good friendship (at least at that point in time).
The event took place on the day of Halloween a year back. A year later, Sharpe is no longer associated with the Undisputed show. He is presently a part of Stephen A. Smith‘s show ‘First Take’ on ESPN.
A fatal quarrel with Bayless led to his departure from Undisputed and Smith took the opportunity to offer him a job at the famed ESPN show. The former TE took the job and now partnered well with Smith and other co-hosts.
What happened between Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless?
A fallout with Skip Bayless resulted in the departure of Shannon Sharpe from the show Undisputed. But what was this fallout about? Was it related to the Halloween prank?
No, it was not. It was something else. It was related to Tom Brady. After a heated discussion between both of them regarding Brady, Bayless launched a personal attack related to Sharpe’s NFL career. The veteran analyst had said on air,
[Brady]'s still playing at a high level at 45 when you had to stop at 35, that's the point.
Of course, Sharpe hit back. He accused Bayless of insulting him on a personal level, but it was of no use. The analyst, after the personal ‘insult’, did not feel like hosting the show anymore. He ended his association after hosting it together for seven years.
