The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady suffered a reality check by the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL Wild Card Round as they were thrashed 31-14. The Bucs just didn’t turn up and the Cowboys led by the charismatic Dak Prescott took full advantage.

The Bucs’ Leonard Fournette finished the season with 668 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 189 carries along with 73 receptions for 523 yards and three additional scores on 83 targets in the 16 games that he featured in. However, NFL analyst Greg Aulman of Fox Sports believes Fournette’s average yards carried has been too low for the season.

“Leonard Fournette finished 2022 averaging 3.5 yards per carry. Of the 35 NFL players with 150+ carries this season, that’s the worst, and no other player is lower than 3.8. His 73 catches is good, but he averaged 7.2 yards; only Austin Ekeler averaged less on that many catches.”

Leonard Fournette has been in good touch throughout this season however against the Dallas Cowboys – it just wasn’t his day. Fournette had an absolutely dismal performance in the NFL Wild Card Round and just couldn’t get going.

Leonard Fournette rushed five times for 11 yards and brought in his only target for six yards. Moreover, things went even worse for him after fans caught sight of the hoodie he was wearing. Fournette was seen sporting a red hoodie with the caption – “Play-off Lenny”. It’s obvious that things didn’t quite go according to plan and the hoodie writing!

It’s the end of the road this season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as Tom Brady’s hopes for an eighth Superbowl title were dampened. However, it remains to be seen whether the veteran quarterback will resume his journey next season as well.

Leonard Fournette’s future is also up in the air as the running back enters into the final year of his contract with the franchise next season. Given his friendship with Brady, it would be all the more interesting to keep an eye on his next move during the offseason.
