The Kansas City Chiefs’ dynamic duo of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are on top of the world now. Mahomes and Kelce just led the Chiefs to their second Super Bowl victory in the last four years.
And now, the talented athletes have scored another championship together as they defeated the Golden State Warriors Splash Brothers Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in the 2023 edition of the charity golfing event, The Match.
In the charity match that raised funds for the No Kid Hungry organization, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce secured a dominating victory over NBA talents Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. With this victory, Mahomes finally secured a win in the eighth edition of The Match. Last year, Mahomes, who was paired with Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, lost to the team of veteran quarterbacks Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.
Meanwhile, Curry remains winless in the charity event with a record of 0-2. Curry and Thompson entered the event as massive betting favorites but got obliterated by the duo of Mahomes and Kelce. After six holes, the Chiefs‘ athletes were up five on the Warriors’ Splash Brothers. The game ended on the tenth hole with a nice putt from the 4-time All-Pro tight end, Kelce, that sealed the victory.
Apart from the on-field competition, the teams were also involved in some trash talk and friendly banter. During the 4th hole, when the Chiefs duo took a 3-1 lead, Mahomes cracked a joke referencing the Warriors’ infamous loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals after taking a 3-1 lead.
The Warriors forward Draymond Green, who attended the event as a spectator didn’t let that disrespect slide and hit Mahomes back with a Joe Burrow joke. Green reminded Mahomes how he lost to Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2021–22 AFC Championship game despite leading 21–10 at halftime.
