Zach Wilson was considered one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the NFL draft and was picked immediately by the New York Jets, who saw great potential in him.
However, that potential hasn’t come to fruition as the Jets’ QB has been one of the most disappointing QBs of the season and has been demoted to an inactive role effective immediately.
Wilson saw it all in such a short amount of time. The Jets fans loved him when he joined the team and now he’s the most hated player on the roster. Wilson started the season as starting QB, then moved on to a backup role, and now he’s on the inactive list currently. This turn of things is enough to summarize the story of Zach Wilson at the Jets this year.
The 23-year-old probably started his last game with the Jets on Christmas Eve against the Jaguars. His horrendous performance led to him getting booed by all the fans and was benched in the second half.
With Wilson out of the picture, QB Mike White has been given the starter role and veteran QB Joe Flacco will back him up with his experience. Wilson was drafted in 2021 and was the second overall pick. However, it seems like the 23-year-old has lost the confidence of the fans and will have to try his luck with some other team.
Zach Wilson’s demotion met with conflicting reactions on NFL Twitter

Wilson can be one of the biggest busts in NFL history for all the right reasons. The hype around the young QB was enormous; sometimes, a person can succumb to all the pressure. Especially if they are young like Wilson.
NFL Twitter quickly went viral when the news was posted by Dov Kleiman on Twitter. The news was met with conflicting reactions. While some thought this was a great decision, some argued otherwise.
Wilson is still very young and was thrown in the thick of things in his initial season. A rookie QB should always be on the bench and learn the basic functionalities and understanding of the game.
Although the decision is made now as Wilson watches his career fall apart in front of him. On the other hand, look at some of the most interesting reactions below.
The Jets will keep their playoff hope alive as Mike White is back from his injury and Zach Wilson is back on the inactive list. They will face the Seahawks in their second to last game of the regular season.
