“Speed on and off the field” Arizona Cardinals Marquise Brown arrested for speeding

In what is slowly becoming a problem for the NFL another wide receiver was arrested for speeding. Marquise Brown, the Arizona Cardinals’ newly signed Wide Receiver was arrested in Arizona for criminal speeding. Brown isn’t the first wide receiver arrested for speeding in the last 12 months.

Henry Ruggs III the former wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders was arrested late last year after his Nov. crash resulting in death of a woman and her dog, Ruggs was DUI at the time. Ruggs awaits a preliminary hearing — now set for Sept. 7 — to determine whether he will stand trial in state court. He was subsequently released by the Raiders. Ruggs charges are reckless driving and driving under the influence resulting in death. As that hearing goes Brown’s arrest took place.

Criminal Speeding charges on Marquise Brown and he is yet to join the Arizona Cardinals’ training camp

Brown was arrested at 7:05 a.m. local time on Arizona State Route 101 in north Phoenix and booked in the Maricopa County Jail for criminal speeding, a class 3 misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail, a fine of up to $500 and/or up to one year of probation. Inmate records in Maricopa County say Brown was arrested for exceeding 85 mph per NFL.com.

The Arizona Cardinals are currently at practice but Brown hasn’t practiced till now as he was dealing with a hamstring issue and was just cleared of the non football injury list on Tuesday. “We are aware of the situation regarding Hollywood Brown and have reported it to the NFL office as required,” the Cardinals said in a statement. “We will comment further as appropriate.”

Brown was traded to the Cardinals from Baltimore Ravens during the NFL draft for a 1st round pick. Brown had a career year last season for the Ravens and is supposed to be big part of Cardinals offence with his former college teammate Kyler Murray, Cardinals newly resigned Quarterback. Brown is the cousin of former Bucs receiver Antonio Brown.
