The Pittsburgh Steelers-led by their quarterback Kenny Pickett, had a sluggish start this season. The team only won two out of their four matches. The fans showed their disgrace to none other than the team’s offensive coordinator Matt Canada, who is failing to come up with perfect offensive tactics. Hence, the team is suffering from offensive incompetencies. In this case, a lot has been asked by the team management to change the coaching lineup so that the team can make some immediate improvements.
However, it does not seem that the management is moved by the demand to change coaches at this point. Earlier this week, Mike Tomlin asserted that the team is not planning to change coaches ‘at this juncture.’ Later on, Najee Harris, the running back of the team backed the decision of Tomlin and said that changing coach would not be affecting much in the team’s tactics. The players have to provide their best against the opponents to ensure much-needed success.
“Coaches can only coach. We’ve got to execute the plays,” Harris said, via Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “We’re not trying to point the finger at all. This is not the time to do that. It keeps being a conversation brought up, things that are talked about so much. I can honestly say we’re not doing it.”
“It’s not the coaches. It has nothing to do with coaches. We have to play better. We can’t just keep looking at the coaches as an outlet or whatever is putting out there. It’s stupid,” he further added.
Agreeing with what Tomlin said, the RB further stated that the Steelers have been suffering due to the lack of physicality. They were soft in the encounter against the Texans.
The ‘Out Matt Canada’ campaign is high among the fans
As mentioned earlier, the Steelers had a sluggish start. They won two games and lost the other two in the ongoing season. Their latest defeat came against the Houston Texans, where they lost by a mammoth margin of 30-6. The offense failed to have a threat in the opponent’s defense line. The fans busted out in fury and started making a demand to change the offensive coordinator.
The rage against Matt Canada, the OC of the Steelers, did not emerge after the game. It has been a long-standing campaign among the fans.
In the game against the Cleveland Browns, the fans demanded the removal of Canada, despite the team emerged victorious. A few analysts also advocated the removal of the OC.
