On Sunday, the Buffalo Bills, led by their Pro Bowl quarterback Josh Allen, went against the defending NFC Champions Philadelphia Eagles in their week 12 matchup. During the game, the Bills’ star wide receiver Stefon Diggs couldn’t help but troll the Philadelphia-based football team after scoring a go-ahead touchdown.
With just under 2 minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Bills were trailing by 4 points and were facing a 3rd and 4 from the Eagles’ 8-yard line. Josh Allen, who received the snap from the shotgun position, faked the handoff to his running back before connecting with wide receiver Gabe Davis for a 8-yard touchdown pass.
With that TD pass, the Bills took one possession lead during the final seconds of the game. After taking the lead, the Bills’ number 1 pass catcher, Stefon Diggs, mocked Philly’s fanbase by flapping his arms to mimic their signature ‘Fly Eagles Fly’ celebration. Check out the footage of the celebration attached below.
However, Diggs’ early celebration fired back in the worst way possible. Pro Bowl QB Jalen Hurts and the Eagles quickly answered back by managing to march down the field and tie the game with a field goal. As a result of the game-tying field goal, the game went into overtime.
Stefon Diggs celebrated a bit too early against the Eagles on Sunday
On Sunday night, the Bills traveled to Philadelphia to take on the NFC powerhouse the Eagles in their week 12 matchup. The game turned into an offensive showdown between two of the best offensive units in the league.
The Bills’ star pass catcher had a great game as he caught 6 passes for 74 yards and 1 touchdown while averaging 12.3 yards per reception. He even mocked the Eagles’ fans after the Bills took a lead during the final seconds of the game.
However, his celebration fired back since the Eagles managed to take the game to overtime. Hurts and the Eagles ended up winning the game in overtime as the scoreboard read 37-34 in Philly’s favor. Following Buffalo’s loss, many fans took to social media to troll Diggs for his early celebration in a loss.
Nonetheless, the Bills dropped to a flat 6-6 record with their loss against the Eagles. There’s now a real possibility that the Bills might end up missing the postseason despite having a great roster. The Bills have a much-needed bye in week 13, which they could use to regroup and figure out how to get out of this hole in the future.
