Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs has found himself at the centre of all the attraction yet again after he failed to appear on the first day of the mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. The unexpected move from the wide receiver has brought about several speculations regarding the fact that he isn’t happy with his role at the franchise.

According to the Boston Globe, Diggs has been unhappy with his “role in the offense” and “voice in play-calling.” These fears were also confirmed by head coach Sean McDermott who confirmed his absence from the minicamp on Tuesday. However, these are not new problems as far as the 29-year-old Diggs is concerned, who also did not attend the voluntary OTAs in April.

Specifically, if one is to find the root of these problems, we need to go back in time to the AFC divisional playoff final between the Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals in January. The game did not go to plan for the Bills, as they ended up losing it by a margin of 27-10, however, it also brought out one significant aspect from inside their locker room.

During the game, Diggs frustratedly had a go at quarterback Josh Allen with flailing arms, where he appeared to admonish the 27-year-old for not making enough passes towards his direction. Diggs was visibly angry following the defeat and exchanged some heated words while the quarterback took some time for himself on the bench.

The outburst did not just end there, as the wideout made an early exit from the locker room, even before the Bills coaches had made their way into the area for their postgame speech. According to various reports, he was eventually stopped by running back Duke Johnson but immediately left the building after head coach McDermott’s speech.

Josh Allen took some of the blame for Stefon Diggs’ frustration recently during a media interaction claiming that there are some things he can do to smoothen his reintegration on the gridiron. “There’s things that I could do better to help out with this process and try to get him back here and be the Buffalo Bill that he’s meant to be.”

“I think we’re just, as an organization, maybe not communicating the right way with everything,” Allen said. “So again, just trying to talk and listen at the same time and hear him out. And like I said, just try to move this forward as quickly and as respectfully as possible.”

The duo has seemed to make peace with each other, with Diggs posting a picture of him with Allen on his official Instagram account, after attending practice on the second day. Also, Stefon Diggs’ girlfriend Tae Heckard is 16 years older than him.
