“Physicality is Tua Tagovailoa’s Achilles heel,” Stephen A. Smith adamant that the Dolphins QB is ‘fragile’ and won’t withstand the ‘physical’ 49ers’ defense
Stephen A. Smith / Tua Tagovailoa
Tua Tagovailoa has been a surprise revelation this season as the Dolphins QB is in flying form currently. The Dolphins haven’t lost a single game where Tua has started as their QB.
The Dolphins are prime contenders for the AFC championship title and their hopes rely on the performance of their star QB. However, they face their biggest challenge yet as the Dolphins go up against the 49ers on SNF.
The 49ers are top of their division and looking strong. Stephen A Smith gave his take on this interesting matchup and believes that the 49ers will be a lot for Tua to handle.
Tua is a great QB, but his biggest weakness can be his body stature. The 24-year-old lacks physicality and it was pretty evident when he suffered consecutive concussions at the start of the season that put him out for 2 games.
The Dolphins QB is an easy target for any defense and Smith pointed that out on ESPN’s First Take. However, if Tua can release the ball, then he has the league’s best WR Tyreek Hill at his disposal.
Tua Tagovailoa will be facing the best defense in the league
Tua Tagovailoa is injury prone and goes down very easily due to his physical stature. Stephen A. Smith is worried about the Dolphins QB’s health as they go up against the 49ers who have the best defense in the league.
“They’re going to go AFTER Tua and we’re going to see what happens and whether or not he can withstand the heat that they’re about to bring his way.” Smith stated on ESPN’s First Take.
According to Smith, the 49ers-Dolphins face-off will be an extremely physical affair as the defense will be out to get the ‘fragile’ Tua. Although if Tua can release the ball, then he has the magic of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle at his fingertips.
Smith pointed out that the 49ers’ game plan will be to deploy extreme physicality against Tua as the whole game will be fought against the trenches. The 49ers also boast a decent offense with Jimmy G, Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, and Deebo Samuel.
The Dolphins-49ers matchup will be one of the most physical games this week and it will be interesting to see how Tua Tagovailoa fares against an exceptional 49ers defense.
