The Dallas Cowboys had yet another one of their most famous meltdowns as they failed to get past the divisional playoffs. After a 12-5 regular season, the Cowboys looked somewhat strong going into the postseason and proved that they might make it all the way to the Super Bowl after defeating Tom Brady and the Bucs in the wildcard round.
However, those who follow the NFL religion knew exactly what would happen to the Cowboys in the divisional round and it came as no surprise that they lost to a third-string quarterback. ESPN’s most famous analyst, Stephen A. Smith, was probably the happiest person on planet Earth that night as the Cowboys failed to reach the NFC Championship for the 28th straight year. America’s Team is nothing more than the butt of all jokes now. The bigger you are, the harder you fall!
The majority of fans and NFL pundits had just one person to blame for Dallas’ loss – Dak Prescott. The star quarterback wasn’t a star while playing against the 49ers as he proved analysts, especially Stephen A. right that he is an inconsistent quarterback and definitely not worth $40 million per year.

Stephen A. Smith says Dak Prescott has a lot to prove to the Cowboys
Following their exit from the Super Bowl run, the Cowboys found fault in everyone, except you know who. The fall guy for Dallas ended up being offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. He was fired by the team and even dissed by head coach Mike McCarthy, who said that Moore should’ve run the ball more rather than throwing it in the air. What can the offensive coordinator do if the quarterback finds the opponent’s players to throw the ball to more often than his own players?
Anyway, Stephen A. Smith was asked on First Take what he thinks are the chances for the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl in the 2023 season to which he replied with his famous sinister laugh, “NO.” Smith talked about the moves the Cowboys made in the previous few months including promoting Brian Schottenheimer to the offensive coordinator position and letting go of running back Ezekiel Elliott. He applauded their decision of adding Stephon Gilmore to the defense, making them one of the most feared defenses in the league.
Talking about the offense, Smith said, “Dak Prescott’s got a lot to prove. He’s the weak link. Because somehow, someway, his performances are attached to every loss… In the end, you are not going to be able to escape the fact that opposing defenses are going to dare Dak Prescott to beat them.” Smith added that the Eagles, 49ers, Vikings, Seahawks, and even the Saints to some extent are going to be the top teams in the NFC in 2023. Dak Prescott is going to have to defeat these teams if the Cowboys want to lift the Lombardi Trophy after their last time in 1995.
Dak Prescott might be in his now or never year because the management has backed him up for many years and believe that he is the perfect guy to lead them to the Super Bowl. If Prescott isn’t successful in doing so this season, then it is possible that he is fired from Dallas. It’ll be really interesting to see how Prescott fares in leading the Cowboys and whether takes them all the way to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
