There have always been several concerns about the nature of Tom Brady’s departure from the Patriots, a departure that made no sense to either fans or pundits. And now, it appears that the Patriots’ ongoing struggles, as well as the subsequent scrutiny placed on Bill Belichick himself, have given rise to newer speculations, one of which is Stephen A. Smith’s claim that Brady was forced out of the franchise by his ex-head coach.

Such reservations are unavoidable. After all, Brady and Belichick had built one of the most illustrious NFL dynasties during their 20-year partnership, culminating in six Super Bowl victories. To fans, they were synonymous with the Patriots’ name, their synergy directly contributing to the team’s success. Nonetheless, by the end, all of that sweetness had been replaced by an unmistakable bitterness.

The main reason for this split was the Patriots’ refusal to give Brady a multi-year contract, as he had requested. He was known to have previously stated on more than a few occasions that he intends to play into his 40s and retire as a Patriots player.

However, Belichick was unable to “kiss the ring,” according to Stephen A. Smith and that “that’s where the legacy gets a bit of a stain on it.” It is clear that Belichick refused to see Brady as any different from the player on their roster, a decision that would come back to haunt them.
