There appears to be a feud between Stephen A. Smith and Tyreek Hill. This comes after the ESPN analyst stated that he does not feel Tua Tagovailoa should be in the MVP conversation this year because he has a wideout such as Tyreek Hill who deserves more credit than him because if you were to throw him a 3-yard pass, he is capable of converting that play to a touchdown. Hill responded by stating that he was sick of people bashing his quarterback.

Following Tyreek Hill’s comments where he called out Stephen A. Smith, the analyst had to respond. Here’s what Smith had to say:

Here's the deal...I just want to address this with Tyreek Hill, everything is not meant to be said to be taken literally. Of course, I wasn't trying to imply that Tua Tagovailoa cannot throw the d*mn football, I certainly wasn't implying that he wasn't an MVP candidate.

Stephen A. did not disrespect Tua, but he believes that any quarterback who has Hill on the team has their job cut short for them.

Stephen A. goes on to add:

This is the first time that I've had to come to my own defense because I've been called out by a guy that I consider to be the best in the world. The discussion is that Tyreek Hill is so electrifying that I think right now if you had him to take right now, you're thinking about the Jerry Rices, the Terrell Owens, the Randy Mosses...in other words to be in that conversation, you literally have to think about guys like that because of how great he is.

Hill is without a doubt the best wideout in the league, his speed and route running is one that other receivers can just aspire to have. It comes as no surprise that he is comparable to some of the greatest wideouts to play the game ever.

Stephen A. Smith believes Tyreek Hill is one of the most electrifying players on the planet

The analyst is so confident in Hill, that he went on to say this on First Take:

The dude is phenomenal...you could throw him a 3-yard pass and this brother could take it to the house. That's how electrifying he is. I was not trying to say that's what Tua does, I was not trying to say that's what Tua did last week.

Here’s where it gets interesting. Tyreek Hill had accused Stephen A. Smith of not watching the games and then forming opinions without knowing how the teams play. Needless to say, that is the biggest insult a veteran journalist can get, and it was not surprising that Smith felt blatantly disrespected by this.

He had to clear the air regarding this subject and had this to say to Hill.

I'm brilliant because I'm not. I listen to those who are. Tyreek Hill...you are absolutely right if you want to sit up there and imply I don't know football. I'm a reporter bro...you know why I do know football as a reporter? Do you know why I've gotten even better and better at knowing football? Because of brothers here with me.

Stephen A. credited Ryan Clark and Bart Scott, who were alongside him. He implied that even though he has not played football nor studied it like an athlete, his knowledge stems from learning and listening to the experiences of NFL veterans who are regulars on the show. So even though he may not have played the game, it does not equate to the fact that he knows absolutely nothing about it.

Stephen A. goes on to add:

I ain't one of those dudes that walk around acting like I knew because I put on pads and a helmet. Never played football. Never wanted to play football. I don't want that kind of heat. I report on the sport, I watch it, and I learn from brilliance.

Tyreek Hill may have blown this one a bit out of proportion, but Stephen A. Smith cleared things out and set the record straight with him. The analyst stated that he does watch football games.

I got 7 TVs in my basement, I'm watching all the games, to accuse me of not watching the games? Tyreek Hill, please watch your mouth, you don't know what you're talking about.
Smith concluded.
