Michael Irvin is a former wide receiver who played for the NFL franchise, the Dallas Cowboys. He spent his entire career with the Cowboys which lasted for twelve years. He is a three-time Super Bowl champion and was also inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame back in 2007.
However, the highly accomplished man found himself in the middle of controversy recently when he was accused of sexual harassment and molestation. He was accused by an anonymous woman working at the Renaissance Phoenix Hotel & Spa of making sexual advances towards her during the week of Super Bowl LVII.
As per the filing, he had asked the employee ‘if she knew anything about having a “big black man inside of [her].”‘As a result, he was pulled out of the NFL Network Coverage and was also taken off the popular ESPN ‘First Take Show’.
Stephen A Smith wants to welcome Michael Irvin back on the First Take Show
However, these claims are said to be falsified according to Michael Irvin and his attorneys. They are currently suing the hotel and the employee for $100 million in a lawsuit trying to frame him. NFL analyst and pundit Stephen A Smith recently said that he wanted Michael Irvin to be part of the First Take Show again. He says without any solid evidence in front of the public it is wrong to accuse him and they only have a short video which shows Irvin only talking to the woman.
“I’ve spoken up on behalf of Michael Irvin by way of simply stating that I wanted him back on ‘First Take,’ barring any unforeseen evidence,” said Smith.“All I’m going by is the evidence that has been placed before us. Ladies and gentlemen, all we have seen is a 45-second video of Michael Irvin talking to this young lady, and then both of them going their separate ways.“
He says based on that video, a three-time Super Bowl winner and NFL Hall of Famer should not be forced to be off television and stop entertaining like he usually does. “That is not a reason for a three-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Famer to be unemployed or off the airwaves entertaining us the way this man entertains us.” Michael Irvin has not been on the NFLN or First Take since February and Smith wants that to change in the near future.
