Mike McCarthy is currently under lots of pressure even after helping his team qualify for the playoffs. The Cowboys’ fans have always had big ambitions for their team and want them to challenge for the Super Bowl each year.

This season, the Cowboys have looked great as they have swiftly defeated tough opponents like the Eagles with relative ease. HC Mike McCarthy had a big role to play in the team’s transition. However, the last NFL regular season game against the Commanders may have put doubt in the minds of supporters and owner Jerry Jones.

America’s team lost miserably in the capital when they were defeated with a score of 26-6 to a team that didn’t even manage to make the playoffs. What’s even worse is that the Cowboys are set to face the Tom Brady-led Bucs in their first playoff game and everyone is aware of the legendary QB’s exploits during the playoffs.

Stephen A. Smith from ESPN had some strong words for the Cowboys HC and gave McCarthy a strong warning before the Cowboys-Bucs game. Smith strongly believes that if the Cowboys lose against the Bucs, then McCarthy’s job will be endangered as this season is really important for the Cowboys.

On the other hand, owner Jerry Jones has denied all the rumors of the Cowboys HC losing his job, irrespective of the result of the Bucs-Cowboys game.

McCarthy doesn’t have the option to lose against the Bucs, who currently have a losing record in the NFL. Statistically, they are the easiest opponent anyone could have asked for in the playoffs. However, their QB, Tom Brady, is known to produce magic during tough times.

Stephen A. Smith firmly asserts that a loss against the Bucs will result in McCarthy losing his job irrespective of what owner Jerry Jones say’s in front of the media.

“Jerry Jones is lying to you. He’s lying. Mike McCarthy loses this game, Mike McCarthy gonna get fired. I don’t give a damn what anybody says… There is no way that Jerry Jones can invest this time, this energy, this passion, and this money in this franchise, [and] witness what he just witnessed this past weekend in the nation’s capital,” Stephen A. Smith stated on ESPN’s First Take.

Although Jerry Jones has stated that he won’t judge Mike McCarthy’s performance based on just one game, the magnitude of the Bucs-Cowboys can be enough for the Cowboys owner to justify his actions if he chooses to fire his HC.
