Brandon Staley is a fairly inexperienced coach in the NFL as he is just 40 years old. However, he has improved the Chargers side considerably and also improved on their 9-8 record from last year and helped the team qualify for the playoffs.

Staley will be looking to lead the Chargers to their first playoff win in 4 years as they prepare to face the Jaguars. The Jaguars have had a great second half of the season and will be a tough nut to crack. However, the Jaguars will be the clear underdogs and the Chargers will go into the game with a clear upper hand.

Stephen A. Smith recently spoke about the Chargers’ current situation and the ramifications if they were to lose against the Jaguars. Smith is known for his vocal and candid takes, this time it was no different.

The NFL analyst believes that if the Chargers were to lose against the Jaguars, Staley will lose his job. What’s more surprising is that Smith believes that the 40-year-old HC will deserve it. Maybe that’s too harsh from the ESPN analyst.

“If the Los Angeles Chargers lose this game to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Brandon Staley will be fired. Period. He will deserve it. Period.” Stephen A. Smith stated on the First Take.

The Chargers are the first team where Brandon Staley has been given complete authority. Before this, he was the defensive coordinator at the Rams and assistant coach at the Broncos and the Bears.

Staley maybe lacks the experience to coach a major team like the Chargers whose QB is Justin Herbert, a star of the future. The Chargers ended their season with a 10-7 record. However, Smith thinks that they could have done better as the Chargers have a great roster with numerous star players.

Although it is not confirmed that Staley will be fired if the Chargers lose to the Jaguars, he will try his best to get them a win as the 40-year-old’s job will be seriously endangered if he fails to do so.

This is the first time Brandon Staley will be leading the team in the postseason and he’s up against HC Doug Pederson who already has a Super Bowl under his belt with the Eagles in 2017. It will surely be an interesting matchup as Justin Herbert and Trevor Lawrence fight it out for the win.
