“We’ve got a great chance,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones offers HUGE praise for HC Mike McCarthy ahead of playoffs

“We’ve got a great chance,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones offers HUGE praise for HC Mike McCarthy ahead of playoffs

The Dallas Cowboys have had an excellent season up until now, as they finished second in the NFC East division with a 12-5 record. They are currently slated to come up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in an away playoff game on Monday night.

The Buccaneers finished top of the NFC South division albeit with a much worse 8-9 record than the Cowboys. However, one can argue that the Cowboys might start as the underdogs cometh this weekend, especially given their record in the playoffs in recent times.

Despite all of that, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is putting his money on his head coach Mike McCarthy and his franchise to come up with the goods against Tom Brady and co. The veteran owner did not want to be weighed down by Brady’s exceptional record against his franchise, with the Bucs QB winning all seven games between the two sides previously.

Jones also claimed that the result of this fixture will not determine Mike McCarthy’s credentials as a head coach. McCarthy has a huge task on his hands, as the Cowboys have not won a playoff tie away from home in the past 30 years when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers.

“No. I don’t even want to… No. That’s it,” Jerry Jones said during his latest appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. “I don’t need to go into all the pluses or minuses. I’ve got a lot more to evaluate Mike McCarthy on than this playoff game.”

“When you really think about it, we’re not playing Brady,” Jones said. “We’re playing Tampa Bay, the team. And it’s conceivable that we could make Brady not play well and get our tails beat by the rest of the team.”

“I’m not trying to be cute. But we’ve got to go play the entire team. And this Brady thing has got to be sensitive. I know it’s there and I respect that. Gives us a challenge to do something we haven’t done before, and that’s beat Tom Brady.”

If America’s side are to end their wait for the elusive Super Bowl this season, they need to clear the initial obstacle against the Buccaneers, and with that wipe off an unwanted record.
