The Chase Claypool saga in Chicago has finally ended with the Miami Dolphins trading for the receiver. He joined the Chicago Bears in the middle of last season and failed to make an impact. After a disastrous Week 1 performance this season, where he was criticized for his lack of effort, Claypool was declared a healthy scratch for the Bears’ latest two games.
He recently called out his coaches and the organization for not using him properly, which resulted in him not playing the last couple of games for the Bears. He now joins a high-powered offense in Miami and will look to resurrect his career with the Dolphins. ESPN analyst and face of the First Take show, Stephen A. Smith, has warned Claypool of developing a bad reputation
“Chase Claypool, please listen to me. This ain’t about football. We saw your skills in Pittsburgh before you got traded to Chicago. You are developing a very bad reputation, If you don’t turn it around, this could very well be your last stop,” Smith said on the latest edition of his show.
He further continued, “Whatever it is going on up here, please get it together so you can shine and show the world what you can do as a football player. If you keep getting moved, the message is going to be indelibly sent, you’re not somebody they want in the locker room.”
Claypool was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021. After a couple of good seasons with the team, he was traded to the Bears in the middle of last season. He had a frustrating time in Chicago and will now look to contribute to a contending team in Miami.

The Bears received a sixth-round pick for Chase Claypool after giving up a second-round pick to get him
Chase Claypool’s time in Chicago has come to an end, with the Bears trading him to the Miami Dolphins as part of a 2025 pick swap deal. The Dolphins also receive a seventh-round pick, whereas the Bears get a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Bears acquired Claypool in a mid-season trade last year with the Pittsburgh Steelers. They gave up a second-round pick, which turned out to be the 32nd pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. The 25-year-old wide receiver now joins the best offense in the league in Miami.
The Dolphins already have Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, two of the fastest players in the league. With Claypool on board, they will have another speedy target for QB Tua Tagovailoa. The Dolphins have won three of their four games so far and will play the New York Giants in their next game in Miami.
